Create a free OpenRouter account

OpenRouter gives you access to 100+ AI models (Claude, GPT-4o, Gemini, Llama and more) with a single API key.

Go to OpenRouter →

Free to sign up — no subscription required. You only pay for what you use.

Add credits to your account

OpenRouter uses a pay-as-you-go model. We recommend starting with $5.00 which gives you thousands of AI messages.

Go to openrouter.ai/credits
Click Add Credits
Add $5.00 minimum (supports Visa, Mastercard, PayPal)

$5.00 goes a long way: With Claude Haiku (~$0.001/message), $5 = ~5,000 messages. With GPT-4o Mini (~$0.0003/message), $5 = ~15,000 messages.

Create your API key

In OpenRouter, go to Keys and click Create Key.

Give it a name like "Aiden Brain"
Copy the key — it starts with sk-or-v1-...
Keep it safe — you won't see it again after closing the page

Important: Never share your API key with anyone. Treat it like a password.

Add your key to Aiden Brain

Sign in to Aiden Brain
Click your avatar/initials in the top-right corner
Click Set API key
Paste your key and click Save key

✓ Done! You're ready to chat with any AI model.

Select any model from the dropdown in the top-right of the chat. All models use your OpenRouter credits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I get charged if I don't use the app?

No. OpenRouter only charges when AI requests are made. If you don't send messages, you don't pay anything.

Can I use the same API key on multiple devices?

Yes. Your key is stored in your Aiden Brain account and works from any browser or device you sign in from.

What happens when my credits run out?

OpenRouter will stop processing requests. You'll see an error message in the chat. Simply add more credits at openrouter.ai/credits.
